Hembury Homes Secure Devonia House For New Development

Brownfield site Devonia House to be redeveloped by Devon-based Homebuilders

Hembury Homes can announce that it has secured the site Devonia House in Yelverton near Plymouth.

Situated on the Leg-O-Mutton Corner, Yelverton, the Devon-based quality home builder will be creating 11 new properties, nine newly-built and two converted from existing buildings.

There will be five two-bedroom and six three-bedroom dwellings, each with a private garden and two off-road parking spaces.

The Devonia site is approximately 2,520 square metres in total. Most of the existing care home buildings will be demolished as part of the development with ‘The Long House’ being retained for conversion.

The new build properties will have a simple, traditional appearance, pitched slate covered roofs with walls finished in render. The conversion building has natural random stone walls.

Yelverton is situated within the Dartmoor National Park, on the south west edge between Tavistock and Plymouth. The community benefits from local amenities and services such as local shops, pubs/restaurants, church and garage and is a short distance from Burrator Reservoir, Sheepstor and Buckland Abbey.

The Devonia House site is situated within easy reach of the local town with reasonable transport links and will offer homebuyers great living accommodation on a site that has been sympathetically designed.

Hembury Homes will also be contributing nearly £24,000 towards the improvement and maintenance of play facilities at Village Park, south of Tavistock Road in Yelverton and cricket facilities at Langdon Park, Yelverton.

Managing Director Dan Salt said: “All Hembury Homes are created with the utmost care and attention to detail and we endeavour to make the development and sales process as easy and stress-free as possible. The properties will all be built to a high specification with plenty more features included as standard.”

Dan added: “These properties will be 2 and 3 bed terraced houses designed to match the local housing need. Unfortunately Devonia House itself is becoming unsafe and needs to be demolished. As a local Devon-based company we certainly want to encourage the purchase of our properties by local people, and we also always endeavour to use local tradespeople and suppliers so that our local economy shares the benefits.”

Hembury Homes’ Ivydale Gardens development in Ivybridge, completed last year, was rated “outstanding” by Building Control Surveyors in 2021.
